The SSI ‘Try Freediving’ programme takes place in the comfortable, controlled environment of a swimming pool so you can relax and focus on this new experience.
A chance for you to learn the theory, test out your skills and see if it’s for you!
Located at Mold Leisure Centre 25m x 3m deep swimming pool every Thursday evening from 7pm (booking required)
Minimum Age: 10
Maximum Training Depth: 5 m / 15 ft
Certification Prerequisites: Fit to swim

The SSI Basic Freediver course is your first step into the peaceful, exhilarating world of freediving. During this entry-level program, you will learn how to freedive safely with a buddy in a pool/confined water up to a depth of five meters.
Online training is combined with in-water practice sessions to give you all the skills and knowledge you need to be a confident freediver. Upon completing this program, you will earn your SSI Basic Freediver certification.

Become a certified SSI Marine Ecologist Freediver
With the benefit of not requiring any noisy boats or any heavy clumsy equipment you can learn to glide beneath the surface on one breath.
Discover local marine life without disturbing the tranquility and learn how to skilfully navigate kelp forests and anemone gardens to remove marine debris.
The Eco Freediver Package is run over 2 days. Day one is split into class room sessions at our school in Chester, followed by confined water training in 3m deep x 25m pool to practice your new skills before heading out to open water.
Day two we head up to the beautiful bays of Anglesey for the open water dives, with the added safety of shore diving from a buoy with a weighted line down to 5m, perfect for our local shores and with the knowledge gained from the Marine Ecology course you will appreciate the marine life even more!
You are welcome to attend our training sessions every Thursday 7-10pm as day 1 and 2 do not need to be consecutive days, we offer help and support, in a safe, fun and friendly environment throughout your freediving journey.
You will also receive a brand new reusable mesh debris bag for you to keep, we don’t use plastic bags!
Kit hire included are the freediving fins, mask, snorkel, weights, weight belt, and for hygiene reasons you will require your own swim wear for pool and wetsuit for the open water dives, if your not sure which type to get please feel free to drop me a message for recommendations.
